| The
New Fiera Milano
The new Fiera Milano is now a reality.
In just under three years – a veritable record considering
the vastness and complexity of the undertaking – and
thanks to an investment of 750 million Euros, the innovative
project designed by Massimiliano Fuksas has come to fruition.
This avant-garde trade fair center marries record exhibition
space and exceptional flexibility; the most advanced technological
features and the well-being of visitors; the optimal utilization
of space and esthetics. With this project, Fiera Milano has
established the new qualitative, functional, technical and
esthetic global standards for the industry. It has conquered
the leadership position among the select group of major trade
fair organizations.
The first pavilions of the new complex – which takes
the name “Fiera Milano” – have entered into
operation at the end of March. The rest of the fairground
will become operational by the Autumn of 2005. This exhibition
center will host the majority of the Milanese fairs, and in
particular larger technology-oriented shows, or those with
very complex logistics. Other exhibitions, especially those
more directly tied to the city such as fashion shows, will
remain at their traditional location. The “historic”
fairground will not be totally demolished and the most modern
part, named “Fiera Milano City”, will in fact
remain. Thanks to the new pavilions Fiera Milano features
the largest and most advanced trade fair complex in the world
(345 thousand covered and 60 thousand open s.m. of gross space
for the new pavilions; 115 thousand for Fiera Milano City),
as well as a total exhibition system comprised of two large
fairgrounds connected to each other by the metro. This system
will have the capacity to best satisfy the varying requirements
of trade events and their respective industries.
