“If I had a choice
between Scoperta & Proposte to exhibit at, I would
choose Scoperta every time”.
Dhr Olivier Hellyn, The Movelta Group.
A quote, which sums up the excitement surrounding Scoperta
that took place between the 9th and 12th May at the
Fiera Milano, Milan.
AND THE SHOW ITSELF?
Scoperta 2006 opened its doors for the first time at
its new location, Fiera Milano on May 9th. After a year’s
build up the anticipation was great and much to the
organisers’ joy, the visitors increased by over
22% from the previous year to 3,214.
Andy Green, Managing Director of Scoperta commented,
“We knew that the move to the Fiera Milano was
the right decision but there is always a sense of trepidation
until the show begins. Running the show in such a fantastic
venue took away so much stress and worry that it gave
us the time to concentrate on supporting our exhibitors
and attracting visitors. The companies exhibiting at
Scoperta were so impressed with the venue and the impact
and gravitas it gave to the show. Of course there were
a few teething problems but this is always to be expected
in a new venue but these were quickly dealt with and
we will be able to anticipate them even better for next
year.” Green continues “The success of Scoperta
this year has given us the continued drive to develop
it even further for 2007 and beyond. We are rapidly
gaining the support of the industry as many of the companies
showing in villa’s and hotels around Villa Erba
came to the show and expressed their enthusiasm for
what we were achieving’”.
117 companies were represented at Scoperta this year,
a 53% increase on the previous year, covering an area
of almost 12,000 sqm, Green concluded by saying, “We
all know the textile market is becoming increasingly
more competitive on one level, but buyers’ time
and resources are also becoming increasingly pressured.
I don’t particularly care how it is achieved,
but this is the time for the industry to act and pull
together, the Fiera Milano has to be the choice for
the future of the industry”.
At the point Scoperta closed its doors for 2006, 80%
more exhibitors had rebooked their stands for Scoperta
2007 than had at the close of the previous year.
Scoperta has already entered into the planning stages
for 2007 and will without doubt remain Europe's fastest
growing textile exhibition, a must attend for all those
in the interiors textiles industry.
